Artists
Rob
Bermingham and Rich Robinson
Rob Bermingham and Rich Robinson investigate the purility of boyhood fascination;
using images such as cars, drum kits, and comic strips, creating powerful
icons that reference contemporary life. “Young, handsome and upfrit”
is how Rob and Rich describe themselves with humble irony – “we
make things we like, we hope you like them too.
Andy
Fung
The work of Andy Fung is equally indebted to sci-fi illustrations, graffiti
and neo-psychedelic pop culture. Growing from free form drawing into highly
finished painting. The work looks computer generated but is in fact hand made.
Ashli
Todd
Using traditional methods and conventions within art and art history, Ashli
Todd’s work is a personal exploration and enhancement of understanding.
By accepting uncertainty and questioning anticipation, Ashli reacts against
predetermined outcomes.
Gordon
Dalton
Unapologetically nostalgic and sentimental, Dalton embraces embarrassment
with a dour melancholic edge. The offbeat mode of production and presentation
understands that this is as good as it gets. His work wants everything to
be alright, but that is clearly not the case.
Mary
Wycherley
Back in the day photography was fun – then I became a school photographer.
The little darlings sometimes drive one to tripod bashing and backdrop defacing
as a weekend hobby but then sometimes you’ll see a beautiful thing and
want to remember it… the only thing that will do is a camera.
Matt
Rowe
Centred on the reflection of contemporary society through the history of bric-a-brac
and ornamental objects, Matt explores taste, ideals, status and value. Through
the manipulation of decorative objects - creating hybrids of unrelated forms
– he produces a social indicator registering on both a personal and
historic level.
Musicians

Culprit One
Electronic guru Culprit One makes broken beats and orchestrated hip-hop-sampling-symphonies that have been mugged in some darkened alleyway. Currently in the studio working on tracks for his next release. More info can be found on www.culpritone.com
"The DJ Shadow of Wales" Annie Mac, BBC Radio One
"Culprit One is an impressive incarnation; a mix of cosmic Warp-style acid house, dramatic DJ Shadow drum crashes and silky future-funk." Bethan and Huw, BBC Radio One
Proober Glombat
Proober Glombat is the multi-instrumentalist that began his musical ramblings in such potential chart fodder as robin reliant, dark bazaar, the cuture sounds of fardiff & looks international to name far too many.
Allowing his laptop to utilize the latest audio manipulation software and some good old fashioned instruments, proober creates a unique sonic experience which differs each time he performs. Contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t just turn up and 'press play'.
A collaboration with junior disprol [dead residents] is proobers latest project along with a one-stop-laptop-tour of European capitols over the summer.
Proober doesn't own a TV.
Twig and the Buffalo
A collision
of beats, bleeps, squeaks and sneakers. Throw down your chores and join forces
with two pig eyed bandits and a fine hybrid of electro bionic rag rock. Be
honest with yourself and they will be honest with you...
Share a giraffe of wine and a sordid dip in the brine.
Dave Village - www.davevillage.co.uk
Dave Village ranks in size between a hamlet and a town. Dallying the day by spinning a yarn, or confusing fruits using a blender. He could tempt you with his fruit, he could tempt you with his yarn, but instead he flutters a song, exercising a lyric poem, on the whim of a guitar. Still beyond the reaches of his known self, he attempts to interpret the entangled consequence.
DJ set by Chris Fowler - Well known local DJ, known for his love of films and UFO’s.
Musicians
Saturday 30th July
Vito
Vito exist through a shared passion for passionate music played passionately. Inspired by the mystical soundscapery of Mogwai, Sigur ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, they combine layers of lightsabre melody and geological scale rhythm to build cavernous soundtracks of melancholy. Embracing the challenge of what a guitar band should be, Vito accept the responsibility of exploring their own ability.
La Merika - http://lamerika.bravehost.com/
La Merika, in ancient ages, referred to the star that hung over the yet to be discovered USA. Europeans, at the time, believed it pointed towards the promised land where paradise was set. Here, in the 21st century, it’s the name four wanderers, from all corners of the globe, gather under. Now London-based, they’re churning out shiny nuggets inspired by bands such as The Church, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Jesus & Mary Chain, fused with their own disjointed sound. La Merika have recorded their debut single for the Flowershop Recordings (Sophia, Toshack Highway, Vito, Elysian Fields).
DJ set by Vinyl Vendetta
Bethan Elfyn (Radio 1), Fionna Allan (In the pines) & Laura Bryon (King Alexander) are THE VINYL VENDETTAS: spinning sassy tunes for dancing feet. They bring their musical natures and adventurous spirits to the power of three, playing classic in the making and classics for the taking.
Visuals by VJ Ocular
Once again
Vito will be accompanied by the giant that is VJ Ocular from Nottingham based
Visualab. Ocular will be providing a live, improvised, visual mix of animation
and video in a direct reaction to the sounds he hears.
